18 Jan THE BEST TEA REMEDY FOR THE FLU
I was admitted to the E.R. in December for having flu-like symptoms. I had a 102 degree fever, hot and cold sweats, body aches, and numbness all over my body including my teeth, legs, and spine. Although my tests came back negative for the flu, doctors said that all of my symptoms directly aligned with it. After several hours in the hospital trying to get my temperature down, being tested for Bronchitis and Strep, and drinking lots of fluids, I was sent home with a couple prescriptions and told to rest for at least four days.
Those next four days were terrible. Some hours I couldn’t bare to get up to use the bathroom and other hours I was able to cook myself dinner. Every night I sweated through my sheets. My bedroom floor was covered with used tissues. And to top if off, I had this awful phlegm cough that I’m just starting to get over. I lived off of saltine crackers, soup, and lemon-ginger tea.
Lemon-Ginger tea actually made me feel a lot better, if only temporarily. I had three cups a day. Originally, I was going to make it from scratch. But, I just didn’t have enough energy to put in all of that work. So, I bought packets. After heating up water in my mug, I put a tablespoon of shredded ginger, lemon slices, and honey in the tea. Let it steep for a few minutes, and drink. No sugar!
I hope this helps anyone facing the flu! Stay in bed, rest, and drink lots of water! Trust me on this. My stubborn self went back to work too soon and had to take myself back home just as quickly as I arrived. And even if you’re not thirsty, still take a few sips of water every 30 minutes.
